Adviser in detail:
Jeremy Marchant specialises in the use of emotional intelligence in businesses and other organisations. Ultimately, doing business is just people working with each other: the quality of our relationships with people directly determines the success of our enterprise.

EI is the only area that successful businesses must address if they are to really succeed. But many businesses fall short of their potential. For them, EI provides an essential toolkit for excellence.

Over thirty years’ of business experience, sixteen of these as a consultant, coach and trainer, enable Jeremy to work with businesses’ on their EI issues with complete business credibility.

Current engagement:
Jeremy is currently engaged in an extensive training programme in emotional intelligence at work for small businesses. The aim is to give clients real skills with which they can improve the success of their businesses. One of the clients is Bridge, an experienced marketing and design agency.

What the client said:
"I have always been a strong people person, yet I’ve not always been able to build rapport with everyone. This course has given me insight into what my role is in the business relationship, how what I believe and do affects my ability to develop rapport in situations where it doesn't come naturally. I took a lot of traditional style management practice at face value. Yet this doesn’t give you any help in dealing with people’s reactions to you. The training programme has given me a set of diagnostic tools to work with people. If you know what’s going on, you have a context which enables you to make choices about how to act. You can influence business relationships for the better. However difficult the situation a business relationship might appear to be in, the course always shows a way forward." Carl Wheatley, Partner, Bridge.

Ten things...about Jeremy

He believes that the quality of business relationships is the most productive area for a business to develop if it is really to fly.

He is an accredited facilitator of VisionWorks’ transformational fundamentals of success course in emotional intelligence at work

He is a composer—his ‘Piano Piece 1’ was selected as a test piece in an international piano competition.

He likes to tease, to be provocative, anything to help people think differently

He liked playing shops as a child - this turned into ten fascinating years working for Marks and Spencer.

He was a whizz at maths—loved cosmology but gave up on quantum mechanics.

He is an NLP master practitioner, and is currently studying on Psychology of Vision’s Hundred days programme.

He is committed to raising the standards of networking and runs Stroud Ecademy for anyone who wants to network in Stroud District - or just wants to raise their networking game.

He loves drawing parallels between apparently unrelated areas—currently he is using musicology models in his coaching.
